What's the difference between hiking boots and walking shoes?
Walking shoes are similar to hiking boots in terms of efficiency, but lower on the ankle. They offer the same rigidity and protection as hiking boots, but with a lighter feel.
Why size up?
Because your feet swell during exercise, we recommend that you take a size larger than your usual shoe size.
Which shoe is right for hiking?
High-top shoes are ideal for long hikes and treks, since fatigue can sometimes cause you to take the wrong step: whatever happens, the upper will hold your foot and ankle securely. The medium upper: the most versatile.
How do you know if a pair of shoes is right for you?
Run a finger along the back of the foot, between the shoe and the heel: if it digs in very easily, or if there's any space left, the pair is too big. Put on both shoes and walk quickly: they should stay firmly in place.
How heavy are hiking boots?
A normal "Mid" hiking shoe weighs around 1100 g/pair, a low " trail " around 700 g/pair, i.e. a difference of 400 g/pair... or 200 g per foot... so if you're looking to lighten up, look more at what's in your backpack...
How long does a hiking boot last?
The lifespan of a shoe for a regular hiker varies between 2 and 5 years. In terms of distance, a pair of classic hiking boots can cover around 5,000 km. A pair of trekking or mountain boots can cover distances of up to 8,000 km.
