The safety stirrups Vector LeMieux are a new generation of stirrups: technically advanced and lightweight, while maintaining the classic style expected from LeMieux. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, they offer an impressive weight-to-strength ratio, making them lighter than most stirrups on the market at just 419 g each, without compromising stability. The ergonomic footbed of the control stirrup is set at 0 degrees, featuring a cross-grip surface and integrated hardened steel spikes to ensure maximum boot security. The footbed is supported by a dual arch balance system that evenly distributes weight across the base of the stirrup frame. The top of the frame is recessed and offset, promoting an outward orientation of 45°, allowing the rider to find the optimal angle for their foot and to locate the stirrup when it is lost. The integrated articulated arm has a two-stage release system, preventing any accidental opening. The spring-loaded arm locks at the base of the main frame, meaning that under maximum pressure, such as during landing after a jump, the rider's weight is evenly distributed over the stirrup, preventing the outside from dropping or bending. When pressure is applied to the stirrup arm, it opens and releases the foot from the stirrup, reducing the risk of being dragged. The breaking strength of the stirrup arm has been tested at 36 N (equivalent to 3.62 kg). This demonstrates sufficient resistance to prevent accidental opening, but allows for quick release if needed. It's important to note that for a stirrup of this design (with a quick-release arm), opening is not guaranteed 100% in the event of a fall. Several factors, such as a fall from the horse, a loose girth causing the saddle to slip, and a slow or unusual exit angle not generating enough lateral force to open the arm, come into play.
