Knitwear, from the office to the weekend.
The sweater is a must-have in the men's winter wardrobe. It can be worn alone over a t-shirt, over a shirt with an exposed collar, or under a blazer or coat. A thin sweater layers easily at the office; a thick sweater replaces a jacket in mid-season. Its style depends on its collar, knit, and material, which also determine its warmth.
Sweatshirts and sweaters also come in:
All knits are available on the sweatshirts and sweaters page.
The crew neck, the most versatile, goes with everything, and allows the collar of a shirt to show. The V-neck, dressier, highlights a shirt and tie. The turtleneck, which covers the neck, is the warmest and gives an elegant look under a jacket. The pullover with a zip-up high collar, in a sporty style, can be worn open or closed. The cardigan, buttoned at the front, is worn like a light jacket over a t-shirt or shirt.
Merino wool, fine and soft, regulates temperature and doesn't itch: perfect for thin sweaters worn against the skin. Lamb wool, thicker, provides more warmth. Cotton is suitable for mid-season. The cable knit, with raised patterns, is warmer and more casual. Choose a sweater that fits well at the shoulders, without pulling at the chest. Wash it by hand or on a wool programme, in cold water, dry it flat, and store it folded, never hanging.
