Our selection of Short Sleeves brings together the light tops for the lovely season: t-shirts, short-sleeved tops and blouses, cap sleeves, balloon sleeves or raglan, in cotton, linen or viscose, along with our tips for choosing the cut and sleeve that flatter your figure.
The light tops for sunny days.
Short-sleeved tops are the foundation of your spring and summer wardrobe: more covering than a tank top, cooler than long sleeves, they can be worn at the office and on holiday. They range from a simple cotton t-shirt to a more dressed-up top and a light blouse, and can be paired with jeans, a skirt, shorts or wide trousers. The sleeve shape changes the whole style of the top.
T-shirts and tank tops also come in:
All tops are gathered on the t-shirts and tank tops page.
The classic sleeve, straight, stops in the middle of the arm. The cap sleeve, very short, just covers the top of the shoulder and leaves the arms exposed. The balloon or puffed sleeve, gathered at the shoulder, adds volume and a romantic look. The raglan sleeve, sewn diagonally from the collar to the armpit, softens the shoulder line. The dropped shoulder sleeve, where the seam falls onto the arm, gives a relaxed look to loose tops. The rolled-up sleeve adds a touch of style.
Cotton, soft and breathable, is suitable for everyday wear; linen, very fresh, is for hot weather; viscose, fluid, is for dressier tops. A fitted top pairs well with loose bottoms, while a loose top goes well with more fitted bottoms, creating a balanced silhouette. Wide shoulders favour a raglan or dropped shoulder sleeve, while narrow shoulders suit a balloon sleeve. Wash your tops at thirty degrees, inside out for prints, and dry them in the shade to preserve the colours.

Sleeves that stop in the middle of the arm or are slightly flared elongate the line. Cap sleeves, which are very short, expose the shoulder and are better suited for slim arms.
The balloon sleeve is gathered and puffed for a romantic effect. The raglan sleeve is cut on the diagonal from the collar to the armpit, without a shoulder seam, which gives a sporty look and great ease of movement.
Layer it over a thin turtleneck or a long-sleeved t-shirt, or tuck it under a blazer or cardigan. A short-sleeved blouse can also be worn with wool trousers and ankle boots.
Linen and cotton allow the skin to breathe and absorb sweat. Viscose, more fluid, falls better and wrinkles less, making it ideal for a dressy blouse.
A fitted top or one tucked into the waistband balances the silhouette against a loose bottom. A cropped t-shirt or a blouse tied at the waist defines the hips and elongates the legs.
