The shirts and blouses for women include cotton shirts, denim or corduroy styles, flowing blouses in viscose or chiffon, and mid-season overshirts. KAFFE and b.young, Danish brands, are alongside Street One, Armedangels, COMMA, or s.Oliver, with cuts ranging from structured office shirts to relaxed weekend blouses.
From the office to the weekend, a piece that structures the outfit.
The shirt is identified by its pointed collar mounted on a collar stand, its full-length buttons, and its buttoned cuffs, derived from men's wear. The blouse is more relaxed: round or V-neck, bow tie collar, partial buttoning, puffed or flared sleeves. In between, the shirt-collared blouse from s.Oliver retains the collar structure with a relaxed fit and pleats that add volume. The Brook Taverner shirt, with its classic design, targets office wear. Length also matters: a straight shirt can be tucked in easily, while a shorter or flared blouse is worn over the top.
Cotton remains the basic fabric for shirts: in poplin, it is smooth and crisp; treated non iron, like on the Russell shirt, it comes out of the machine almost wrinkle-free. Viscose, a fibre derived from wood cellulose, gives KAFFE or b.young blouses their fluid drape and cool touch. Chiffon and muslin, very fine and transparent, like on the COMMA models, hint at the skin and are lined with a solid underlayer. For autumn, the corduroy shirt from Street One and the denim fabric from Ichi add thickness and structure.
The overshirt, like the KAFFE Naya, is cut looser and in a thicker fabric than a shirt: it can be worn open as a light layer or closed and cinched at the waist. The details then define each model: ruffled sleeves on the COMMA blouse in structured muslin, patch pockets on the voile shirt, pleats under the yoke from s.Oliver, and a faux leather shirt from Sixth June for a bolder look. Viscose requires delicate washing at thirty degrees, inside out, and ironing with a warm iron on slightly damp fabric.

Identify your bust and hip measurements, then compare them with the manufacturer's guide: it's often the bust that determines the size. A fluid viscose blouse or slightly flared cut provides more ease than a fitted shirt, without gaping between the buttons.
The gap is caused by a shirt that is too tight at the bust: sizing up, or choosing a straight cut instead of a fitted one, solves the issue. Alternatively, a small snap button sewn between two buttons discreetly closes the opening.
Iron it while slightly damp, starting with the collar, then the cuffs, the sleeves, and finally the back and fronts. Set the iron to the cotton setting and iron embroidered areas from the reverse to avoid crushing them.
The overshirt is already cut loose to be worn over another layer: your usual size is generally sufficient. Only size up to layer over a thick knit, while checking the sleeve length.
