The women's coats gathered here cover all winter weathers: Desigual Napoles coat with colourful patterns, Superdry and Guess puffer jackets, Didriksons Felia parka and raincoats from Didriksons, Regatta, Helly Hansen or Weather Report. These end-of-line items, from previous collections, maintain the same quality as the original models, with a more limited size selection.
The right coat for every season.
The right coat depends on the cold you have to face. A long coat, like the Desigual Napoles, protects the legs and goes well with city outfits, featuring the brand's signature colourful patterns. The padded jacket, like the Superdry Everest with a hood or the Guess 4G, provides the best warmth for its weight and can be worn both during the week and at weekends. The parka Didriksons Felia, finally, combines a protective shell against wind and rain: a good compromise for the wet winters of western France.

For rainy areas, a waterproof coat is a great alternative to an umbrella. Didriksons, founded in 1913 on the west coast of Sweden to protect fishermen, has made this its trade: the Jennie and Varja, with hoods, keep you dry in heavy showers. Regatta, with the Brianka, and Weather Report, with the Camelia, offer more urban styles, while the Helly Hansen Dubliner, from the Norwegian brand established in 1877, combines waterproofing with a simple cut. The Trespass Qikpac folds into its own pocket: handy to keep on you for uncertain days.
A coat is chosen with what you're wearing underneath in mind. When trying it on, wear a thick knit, then check three points: the shoulders sit correctly without pulling, the sleeves cover the wrists with arms outstretched, and the coat closes without pinching at the chest. The length also changes the look: mid-thigh is practical for car and bike use; knee-length or longer offers better protection for the legs against the cold and elongates the silhouette. A removable hood and a high collar add protection on windy days.
Each material requires its own care. A wool coat should be brushed after use and dry cleaned or washed on a wool cycle in cold water to avoid felting. A padded jacket can be machine washed on a low temperature with a special down detergent, then tumble dried with balls to restore its fluffiness. A raincoat should be washed without fabric softener, then treated with a water-repellent treatment to make water bead off again. In all cases, empty the pockets, close zips and poppers, and hang the coat on a wide hanger that respects the shoulder line.
Clean them before storing, as stains can set in a few months. Hang them in breathable covers, without plastic, and slip a lavender sachet or some cedarwood in to prevent moths.
Keep the two or three models you're currently wearing handy and store the rest in a cover, up high. Padded jackets can be folded without being squashed, while wool coats should remain hung up.
A non-lined raincoat protects from water and wind, but provides little insulation. For winter, choose a lined or padded model, or wear a warm layer underneath that can be removed in mid-season.
Gently run a lint razor flat, without pressing, in the direction of the fabric. The friction from a shoulder bag is often to blame: alternating the shoulder carrying the bag reduces the problem.
Black, navy, camel and grey go with nearly all outfits and stand the test of time. A bright colour or print, like those from Desigual, is more of a secondary coat, to brighten up winter.
