The sneakers Victoria were born in 1915 in La Rioja, Spain, and are named after the founder's wife; the washed canvas tennis shoe, with or without laces, remains their iconic style, light and easy to wear without socks. At Asics, the Gel-Quantum translates the Gel cushioning from running into an urban model, clearly visible under the heel. The Nike Court Vision Low Next Nature takes inspiration from 1980s basketball shoes, incorporating some recycled materials, while the Skechers Uno focuses on an exposed air-cushion sole. Tamaris and Steve Madden bring a more fashionable touch.
The women's clearance is organised by type:
The lifestyle clearance is also available for men, juniors, accessories, luggage, summer, winter, on the lifestyle page.
Armedangels, a brand founded in Cologne in 2007, has built its reputation on clothing made from organic cotton and recycled fibres. Their Baarly jean adopts a barrel cut: high waist, rounded leg at the knees then tapered at the ankle, a silhouette that pairs well with a cropped or tucked-in top. The Frankaa sweats from the brand, made from soft fleece, go perfectly with this jean every day. Le Temps des Cerises, a French denim brand, plays with pocket details through its Cosy Pocket cut. The cotton and wool knitted jacket from Armedangels and the Only cardigan, a Danish brand under Bestseller group, layer easily for mid-season.
The down jacket Superdry, a British brand born in Cheltenham in 2003, traps warm air in its padded compartments: the City and Everest, both hooded, are suitable for the dry cold of winter mornings. The parka Didriksons Felia caters to a different climate, that of wet winters. The Swedish brand, established in 1913 in Grundsund, a fishing village, where Julius and Hanna Didrikson made oiled clothing for North Sea fishermen, has retained expertise in waterproofing, featuring sealed seams and a longer cut typical of parkas. In the city, the parka offers better protection from rain, while the down jacket remains unbeatable in dry and very cold weather.
Each brand sizes differently: a Spanish sneaker Victoria doesn't fit like a Japanese Asics, and jeans may show a French size or waist measurement with leg length in inches depending on the brand. It's best to measure your waist, hips, and foot length, then refer to each brand's size guide. In end-of-line sales, some sizes disappear faster than others. For care, organic cotton jeans should be washed inside out, at thirty degrees and as infrequently as possible; a down-filled jacket can be machine washed on a delicate cycle with suitable detergent, then dried with drying balls that fluff up the filling.
The filling makes the difference: down provides the best warmth for a reduced weight, especially if it is predominantly down rather than feathers. Synthetic fillings retain heat better in dampness and are easier to wash.
Straight jeans suit almost all body types, slim fits slim the leg and bootcuts balance out defined hips. A high waist lengthens the silhouette, while a barrel or wide cut matches better with a more fitted top.
Canvas allows water and cold through: they are suitable for dry mid-season days rather than wet pavements. For winter, it's better to opt for leather sneakers, possibly lined, or a model treated for moisture resistance.
After washing with a technical detergent, apply a water-repellent product in spray or in the machine, following the label instructions. A tumble dry on low heat, when permitted, reactivates the original treatment.
The GOTS label, the most common, guarantees a fibre from organic farming and regulates dyeing as well as manufacturing. The label also specifies the proportion of organic cotton, sometimes blended with recycled fibres.
