The men's jackets in this selection cover all uses: waterproof jackets for the rain, fleeces and softshells for the mid-season, tracksuit jackets, bombers, car coats, and lightweight down jackets, from Helly Hansen, Fred Perry, Trespass, Kariban, Faguo, Alpha Industries, or Fila. These are end-of-line items that will not be restocked once the last size is sold.

A waterproof jacket is judged by its membrane and seams. The Helly Hansen Dubliner, from the Norwegian brand founded in 1877 in Moss, combines a waterproof coating that blocks rain while allowing water vapour to escape with sealed seams that prevent water from seeping through the stitches. The Trespass Qikpac, very lightweight, folds into its own pocket for travel.
The adjustable hood, adjustable cuffs and a hem tightened with a cord add to the protection. For the city, the Fred Perry Brentham features a dressier cut without sacrificing protection against downpours.
Between two seasons, the fleece keeps you warm without weighing you down: the Faguo Aubiac and Peak Mountain fleeces, in sherpa knit or short pile, can be worn alone in dry weather or under a rain jacket. The softshell, like the micro-fleece Kariban, combines a windproof and water-resistant outer layer with a soft inner lining, for windy days.
Tracksuit jackets are more sporty: those from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team carry the team's colours, while the Fila Biella features the name of the Italian city where the brand was founded in 1911.
The blouson Alpha Industries takes inspiration from the US Army flight jackets, which the brand has supplied since its founding in 1959: the B-15 model is recognised by its synthetic fur collar and zip pocket on the sleeve. The bomber, short and fitted at the waist and cuffs with ribbed bands, comes from the same family and can be worn both closed and open.
More stylish, the pea coat in cotton from Fred Perry, a brand launched in 1952 by the champion English tennis player, features the straight silhouette of a sailor's jacket and its wide collar that can be turned up against the wind.
The men’s clearance continues with down jackets, parkas, coats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, trousers, sneakers, on the men's clearance page.
A jacket is primarily chosen based on the shoulder width: the shoulder seam should fall at the edge of the shoulder, and the closure should be done without pulling on the chest. The sleeves should cover the wrist when your arms are extended; if they are too short, they let in the cold. For a waterproof jacket or a blouson worn over a thick jumper, leave a few centimetres of ease, or even choose one size up depending on the cut.
Cut varies from brand to brand: a so-called fitted jacket sits close to the body, while a regular cut provides more space. The size guide on each product page indicates the length of the back and sleeves, which should be compared with a jacket you already wear.
Close zips and Velcro, then wash at thirty degrees on a delicate cycle with a liquid detergent without fabric softener, which would block the membrane. A tumble on a low heat, if the label allows it, reactivates the water-repellent treatment.
Most tracksuit jackets fit true to size, with a straight cut designed for movement. Fitted models, also called slim, should be taken one size up if you want to wear a thick sweatshirt underneath.
Wash it alone, closed and inside out, at thirty degrees on a delicate cycle, with a special down detergent. In the tumble dryer, on a low heat and with two tennis balls, the filling regains its loft without clumping.
Yes, at thirty degrees and inside out, without fabric softener which would crush the fibres. Air drying limits pilling and keeps the fleece fluffy and warm much longer than a tumble dry would.
The softshell, stretchy and breathable, blocks the wind and resists light rain thanks to a water-repellent treatment. The waterproof jacket, with a membrane and sealed seams, protects against persistent rain but breathes less during physical activity.
