Lifestyle accessories

The lifestyle accessories bring together what complements an outfit every day: backpacks Eastpak and Got Bag, suitcases travelite, travel bags Fred Perry, shoulder bags Quadra, berets Kangol and caps New Era. A selection designed for the city, studying and weekends, where each piece is chosen as much for its material and volume as for its style.

A well-chosen accessory lasts for years: materials, dimensions and adjustments make the difference.

Cabin or checked luggage: shell and dimensions

A suitcase is primarily chosen based on its use: cabin size for short trips, large size for checked baggage on holiday. The travelite range, a family-owned business founded in Hamburg in 1949, offers models from cabin-sized, like the Air Base or the Next, to large volume. On a hard suitcase, a polycarbonate shell absorbs shocks by slightly deforming and then returning to shape, while ABS, being more rigid, can end up marking or cracking.

For cabin luggage, each airline sets its own maximum dimensions, including wheels and handles: a size of around fifty-five centimetres tall fits most, but checking beforehand is essential. Four double swivel wheels make navigating long airport corridors easier, while two fixed wheels roll better over cobblestones.

Everyday backpacks: Eastpak and Got Bag

For daily use, the backpack Eastpak is a reliable choice: the brand was born in 1952 in Massachusetts, making bags for the US army before reaching out to the general public in 1976. The Padded Pak'r, with padded back and straps, offers twenty-four litres; the Day Pak'r keeps this size and adds a padded sleeve for a fourteen-inch laptop, while the Orbit, a smaller version of the classic, is enough for light outings.

The Got Bag backpacks, a German brand founded in 2016, are made from plastic recovered from the sea, thanks to a collection program run with fishermen from the north coast of Java, Indonesia. The Rolltop closes by rolling its opening, which adjusts the volume and protects contents from rain.

Beret Kangol and New Era 59FIFTY cap

The Kangol 504 beret first appeared in the mid-1950s and is named after the number of the wooden block it was shaped on. The brand, founded in 1938 in Cumbria, England, adopted its embroidered kangaroo logo in 1983, as American customers were asking for the kangaroo hat. The model is available in wool for winter and in Tropic Ventair, a mesh fabric that allows air circulation when it’s hot.

The New Era 59FIFTY cap, launched in 1954, is a closed cap: it comes in the exact size of the head circumference, with no adjustment possible at the back. Since 1993, New Era has supplied caps worn on-field by all Major League Baseball teams, which explains its versions in New York Yankees colours.

Travel bag, belt bag, and handbag

The travel bag Fred Perry Classic Barrel takes on the barrel shape of old sports bags and features the brand’s laurel crown, founded in 1952 by the champion British tennis player who was crowned three times in row at Wimbledon, from 1934 to 1936. Its volume makes it an ideal companion for a weekend. The belt bag Quadra, worn at the waist or across the chest, keeps phone, keys, and documents handy when travelling or in town.

For handbags, the Got Bag Moon adopts a half-moon shape, and the Guess Ella, hobo-style, hangs over the shoulder with a relaxed silhouette that hugs its contents.

Frequently asked questions

How to measure your head circumference for a fitted cap?

Place a soft tape measure about one centimetre above your ears, crossing over the middle of your forehead and the most prominent part of the back of your head. The result in centimetres gives the size; if between sizes, choose the larger one.

How to take care of a wool beret?

Brush it regularly with a soft brush to remove dust, and wash it only if necessary, by hand, in cold water with wool detergent. Let it dry flat, reshaping it, away from a radiator that might felt the fabric.

What does the TSA label mean on a suitcase?

It refers to a lock or padlock that US airport security agents can open with a special key, without forcing it. For a flight to the United States, it prevents your suitcase from being found with a broken lock after inspection.

How to know if a travel bag fits in the cabin?

Measure it full, including handles and outer pockets, and compare with the dimensions published by your airline, which often distinguishes cabin baggage from the smaller bag that slips under the seat. A soft bag has the advantage of squashing into the size requirements.

Does the leather of a handbag require special care?

A soft, dry cloth removes dust, and a nourishing cream applied a few times a year prevents the leather from drying out and cracking. Stored padded with paper in its bag, the handbag retains its shape; a synthetic model only requires a damp cloth.
