The Bags page brings together backpacks, bum bags, pencil cases, handbags, travel bags and suitcases, from Eastpak, Got Bag, Fred Perry, travelite, Guess, Quadra, DC Shoes or Desigual. Thick fabric guaranteed for thirty years, material made from plastic retrieved from the sea, hard cases for flying: everything you need to carry your belongings every day, in the city or while travelling.
A bag is chosen based on its use: for the day, the weekend or long trips.
Eastpak was founded in 1952 in Massachusetts, under the name Eastern Canvas Products, making bags for the US Army, before launching its consumer models in 1976. It was the first bag brand to offer a lifetime guarantee, limited to thirty years for legal reasons. The Padded Pak'r, with its padded back and zipped front pocket, is its iconic model; the Day Pak'r adds a padded compartment for a laptop, the Out Of Office and Day Office target students and professionals, while the Orbit, smaller in size, is for kids.
Got Bag, founded in 2016, makes its bags from plastic retrieved by a network of fishermen off the coast of Java, Indonesia, and then transformed into yarn. Its Rolltop backpack closes by rolling the top of the bag over itself several times before clipping it shut: rain doesn't get in through the opening, and the volume adjusts to the contents, from workdays to weekends. The Moon, a half-moon shaped bag from the brand, is worn close to the body for the city. According to the brand, each backpack represents several kilos of plastic removed from the ocean.
The bumbag, like the one from Quadra, has moved from the waist to being worn across the chest: phone, keys, and cards stay in front, safe from prying hands. The case Eastpak Benchmark, in the brand's fabric, serves as both a school pencil case and a travel pouch for cables and chargers. For handbags, the Guess Ella adopts a hobo shape, soft and rounded, that hangs slightly over the shoulder; Guess was founded in Los Angeles in 1981. The DC Shoes Backsider backpack and Desigual models, with colorful prints, complete the selection.
For a weekend, the travel bag Fred Perry Classic Barrel, barrel-shaped and featuring the brand's laurel crown founded in 1952 by the tennis champion, fits into a trunk or luggage compartment. For longer stays, suitcases from travelite, a family brand founded in Hamburg in 1949, range from cabin sizes, such as the Next in size S, to large sizes, like the Air Base in size L. The cabin size is about 55 centimeters high, but each airline sets its own dimensions and maximum weight, which should be checked before departure.
The new arrivals showcase the latest releases, the promotions feature discounted items, and the items shipped in 24 hours are prepared and dispatched within 24 hours. The good deals, clearance, and sales complete the offer.
Stuff them with tissue paper or a small cushion, then store them upright on a shelf, in a breathable fabric cover. Avoid hanging them for long periods by the handles, which can deform, and the plastic that holds moisture.
It's better to clean it by hand, with warm soapy water and a soft brush, focusing on the stains. In the machine, the padded back and reinforcements could become misshapen; then let it air dry, open and upside down.
A soft travel bag or a small cabin-sized suitcase is enough for two or three days. Check the dimensions and allowed weight by your airline, as they vary from one airline to another and depending on the ticket chosen.
The hard suitcase offers better protection for fragile items and resists rain, but cannot be compressed. The soft suitcase often weighs less, accommodates a bit more packed items, and provides handy exterior pockets for documents.
The top of the bag should reach shoulder level while the bottom stays above the hips, snug against the back. Tighten the straps evenly, then the chest strap if the bag has one, to prevent the load from pulling backwards.
