The private sale Hummel brings together for a limited time the clothing, shoes, and accessories of the chevron brand: handball and football teamwear, referee kits, tracksuits, and sneakers inspired by its past indoor shoes. A brand born in Hamburg, which became Danish, and remains one of the big names in European handball.

Hummel was born in 1923 in Hamburg, Germany, where the company initially produced sports shoes, including studded football boots. Its name means "bumblebee" in German: the insect, which seems to fly despite its heavy body, becomes the brand's emblem. Now Danish, Hummel is headquartered in Aarhus. In 1999, Christian Stadil and his father Thor bought it; while studying in Aarhus, Christian noticed that young Danes were searching thrift shops for 1970s and 1980s Hummel clothing, the starting point for a revival blending sport and retro heritage.

The chevrons, these V-shaped bands running down the sleeves, took their current form in the 1970s and allow one to recognize a Hummel garment from afar, regardless of its colour. The brand pushed this graphic style to the limit with the Denmark jersey at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico: one half red, one half white, separated vertically, for the team nicknamed "Danish Dynamite." This design, which no other equipment manufacturer has replicated for a national team, has been reissued by Hummel and still inspires its retro collections.
In Denmark, handball is one of the most popular sports, and Hummel has made it its playground. Its indoor shoes prioritise grip on hardwood and lateral support for jumps and landings; its teamwear, including jerseys, shorts, and tracksuits, outfits clubs from amateur to elite levels. The brand is a partner of the European Handball Federation, equipping referees and officials during major tournaments, and its referee kits in the colours of the French Handball Federation can be seen on French courts. Volleyball and football complete its team catalog.
The sneakers Hummel reflect the style of its training shoes from the 1970s and 1980s: suede or leather upper, flat rubber sole, and chevrons on the side. These low and slim silhouettes, originally designed for gym floors, are now worn in the city. They should be chosen in your usual size, after checking foot length in centimeters on the brand's size guide. For care, a clear rubber sole can be cleaned with a brush and soapy water, while suede can be refreshed with a dry brush and protected with a waterproofing spray.

Hummel means bumblebee in German. The insect, known for being able to fly despite being considered too heavy for its wings, symbolised the agility the brand wanted to bring to athletes.
The Hummel textiles follow European sizes, with a sporty fit that is fairly close to the body on teamwear. If you want to wear a layer underneath or prefer a more relaxed look, you can go for the next size up.
They usually fit true to size. Measure your foot from heel to wall and transfer the length in centimeters to the brand's guide; for handball, it is advisable to have a snug fit for support.
Hummel is mainly associated with handball, Denmark's flagship sport, but it also outfits football and volleyball clubs. Its lifestyle line includes sneakers and retro clothing drawn from its archives.
