The adidas tops are divided into ranges that correspond to specific uses. Adizero refers to the brand's competition line, featuring lightweight running shoes and outfits that are fast: close-fitting cuts and very light fabrics, perfect for the road and speed training. Adi365, as its name suggests, is aimed at everyday training, with durable tops, vests, and shorts that withstand repeated washes. The Essentials range offers the basics, while the Climacool pieces focus on ventilated areas. In the end of the line, these clothes mainly change colour, never material or cut.

A compression tight, like the Elite Lab Run Elite, hugs the legs to limit muscle vibrations with each impact on the ground and support venous return; the pressure is often greater at the ankle than at the thigh. Runners wear them on long runs, downhill trails, or for recovery. The short adidas Adi365, short and stretchy, offers lighter support and eliminates chafing on the inner thighs; it can be worn alone or under shorts. Choosing the right size is crucial: too loose, a compression tight loses its effect; too tight, it restricts circulation, hence the importance of measuring your calf and thigh circumference.
The waterproof jackets Elite Lab, like the Jago, keep rain and wind out while allowing moisture produced by effort to escape thanks to breathable fabric. They should be lightweight so they don't weigh down your shoulders and long enough in the back to cover your lower back when leaning forward. The adidas Iconic Climacool Adi365 jacket acts more as a windbreaker for cool mornings. The zip-up tracksuit with a hood from adidas Essentials, thicker, is worn before and after running, during warm-ups, or on the start line, when the body cools down quickly. An adjustable hood is valuable in light rain.
Well-maintained running clothing retains its properties for years. It should be washed on a low temperature, turned inside out, with a small amount of liquid detergent: powder and fabric softener leave a film on synthetic fibres, making them less effective at wicking away sweat. Close zippers and velcro to avoid snagging the fine mesh of breathable tops. The tumble dryer should be avoided for tights and shorts, as the elastane stretches in heat and loses support. A flat dry or hanging dry is sufficient: these fabrics dry in a few hours, ready for the next day’s run.
For three runs a week, three or four technical tops mean you’ll always have one clean and dry. These fabrics dry in a few hours, but alternating pieces slows down wear and the loss of elasticity.
It’s a model for which the manufacturer has stopped producing a colour or version to make way for the next. The material and cut remain the same as the current version; only the size options reduce as sales progress.
Most running shorts include a mesh liner or a short, making underwear unnecessary and avoiding extra seams that can cause irritation. On a short without a liner, a boxer brief without seams takes over.
Synthetic fibres hold onto the bacteria that cause odours, especially if the laundry stays damp in a bag. Wash promptly after runs, add a little white vinegar during rinsing, and avoid fabric softener, which traps odours.
For a short and easy run, yes, but cotton absorbs sweat, becomes heavy, and sticks to the skin, with a risk of irritation on the nipples and armpits. A technical polyester t-shirt wicks moisture and stays light throughout.
