Reading the temperatures of a sleeping bag
The sleeping bags tested according to the ISO 23537 standard display three temperatures. The comfort temperature is the one at which an average-sized woman sleeps well in a relaxed position; the limit temperature is the one at which an average man sleeps curled up without feeling cold; the extreme temperature indicates only a survival threshold, with a risk of hypothermia. These values assume the sleeper is in long underwear and socks, lying on an insulating mattress. You should choose your sleeping bag based on the coldest night expected, relying on comfort if you are sensitive to the cold: a Nordisk Walløe or Knuth, designed for negative nights, targets mountains and winter.
