The clearance sale for equestrian gear is great for young riders: jodhpur boots and shoes, mini chaps, full grip trousers and leggings, competition jackets, quilted jackets, airbag vests, and back protectors, all at discount prices from Horze, Red Horse, Premier Equine, Harry's Horse, Helite, Swing, QHP or Q-essentials. A way to keep up with a child's growth without giving up on safe equipment.
A pair of boots or equipment from a previous collection, for a lower price.
For a child, jodhpur boots worn with mini-chaps in suede, like those from Q-essentials, adapt longer to growth than a pair of tall boots: each piece can be replaced separately when the foot or calf grows. The riding boot still has the advantage of looking good in competitions. The Horze Rover, designed for dressage, goes high up the leg, the Horze Portland adds decorative crystals, and the Horze Polar, lined, keeps the foot warm in winter. Fleece-lined boots, like the Black Fox Cheyennetoo, are useful in the stable when it's cold. The ideal height for a boot is just below the bend of the knee.
The equestrian clearance sale is organised by category:
The back protection or protective vest is chosen according to the EN 13158 standard, which classifies models into three levels; level three, the most protective, is required for cross-country in eventing. The Swing protection for children fastens with a zipper at the front, making it easy to put on alone. The airbag vest Helite Zip'In, designed by the French company Helite, based in Dijon, connects to the saddle by a cord: during a fall, a CO2 cartridge inflates it and protects the neck, back, and chest. After each deployment, the cartridge needs to be replaced before getting back on the horse.
Clearance is also available in other sports: football, running, lifestyle, bikes, motorbike, handball, basketball, camping, on the clearance page.
The full grip equestrian leggings, like the Horze Dea or the Red Horse Khloé, have non-slip silicone inserts throughout the inside of the legs and buttocks, for a stable seat. The thermal model ELT Lucky Leni, lined inside, keeps warmth during winter lessons. The pants Premier Equine Derby or Brava, which are more structured, pair well with a jacket for competitions. The competition jacket for girls, Red Horse Carousel, with a fitted cut, is worn over a polo or a white shirt during official tests, with light-coloured pants.
The knee grip, limited to the knees, allows more freedom during showjumping, when the rider positions themselves above the saddle. The full grip is better for dressage, where a deep and stable seat is desired.
It is chosen based on the chest size, waist size, and back length, measured on the child in light clothing. When riding, it should not touch the cantle or ride up under the chin when the rider leans forward.
A long puffer jacket, like the Horze Paloma, covers the thighs during waits at the edge of the arena and while caring for the stable. For riding, a short model is preferred, which doesn't get in the way when in contact with the saddle.
Wash it inside out, at thirty degrees, without fabric softener which can clog the silicone inserts. It should air dry, never in the tumble dryer, to preserve the grip and elasticity of the fabric.
After any fall with a blow to the head, even without visible damage, as the internal shell may have absorbed the energy of the impact. Outside of an accident, manufacturers recommend replacing it after a few years of regular use.
