Football clearance sales

The Football clearance brings together clearance stock of football items at reduced prices: boots and indoor shoes, club and national team shirts, teamwear, gloves and goalkeeper kits, junior items. New models that won't be restocked, to grab while the right size or fit is still available.

A previous generation or an old shirt, for a more affordable price.

Football boots from a previous generation: what it keeps

Manufacturers regularly update their ranges of football boots, often with a new colour or a revised upper. The previous generation retains the essentials: the same model family, focused on speed, control or comfort, the same sole and a similar fit. Models with leather uppers, made from calfskin or kangaroo for the high end, soften over time and mould to the foot; synthetic uppers, which are lighter, keep their shape and dry faster after a match in the rain. You choose according to your playing habits, without waiting for the very latest version.

Football clearance sales

The football clearance is organised by type:

Goalkeeper gloves on clearance: cut and latex

A goalkeeper glove is first chosen based on its cut. The negative cut, with inner seams, hugs the fingers and offers precise ball control; the flat cut, wider, increases the grip surface; the roll finger, with seams wrapped around the fingers, combines the two approaches. The palm made of thick latex grips well but wears out faster on synthetic surfaces: one pair is kept for training and another for matches. Before playing, slightly dampen the palm, rinse it with lukewarm water after the game, and let it air dry without folding it.

Other sports on clearance

The clearance extends to other sports: running, lifestyle, handball, basketball, equestrian, fitness, bikes, camping, all on the clearance page.

Outfitting a junior: shoe size, fastening and teamwear

For a child, the shoe size should be checked at the start of each season: keep about one centimetre between the big toe and the end of the shoe, and avoid going too big, which would affect ball control. Younger ones prefer models with hook and loop fasteners, easier to put on alone in the changing room. In terms of sole, moulded studs are suitable for the majority of pitches used by football schools. To outfit a team in teamwear, the sizes of each player should be noted before ordering, as a clearance range will not be restocked later.

Frequently asked questions

What do the abbreviations FG, AG, TF and IN mean on a football boot?

FG refers to moulded studs for dry natural grass, AG is the sole designed for artificial turf, TF refers to multi-studs for hard and stabilised surfaces, and IN is the flat sole for indoor playing. SG indicates screw-in studs for muddy fields.

Is it advisable to play on synthetic ground with screw-in studs?

It's not advised: long and often metallic, screw-in studs grip too much in artificial grass, putting stress on the knees and ankles. Many clubs also prohibit them on their synthetic pitches.

Can futsal shoes be used in the gym?

Yes, the flat, non-marking rubber sole of indoor shoes grips the floor and gym surfaces. They do wear out very quickly outside, on asphalt or synthetic surfaces.

How can you make leather football boots last longer?

After each match, remove the mud, stuff the insides with newspaper, and let them dry away from a radiator. Applying leather cream from time to time keeps the upper supple and reduces cracking.

How do you find the right size for a goalkeeper glove?

Measure the circumference of the hand at the knuckles, excluding the thumb, or its length from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger, then refer to the brand's size guide. The glove should leave about half a centimetre at the tips of the fingers.
