The volleyball knee pads protect the kneecap during low receptions, dives, and slides on the court. The Errea Tokyo, available in the colours of the French team, combine a tube made from elastic fabric with a foam piece placed in front of the knee. They should be chosen based on the knee circumference, measured with the leg slightly bent: if they are too loose, they slide down the shin with the first dive, and if they are too tight, they restrict movement. Defenders and liberos prefer thick foam, while attackers opt for thinner protection that does not hinder jumping.
